Copthorne Hotel & Apartments Queenstown Lakeview Overview
Copthorne Hotel & Apartments Queenstown Lakeview is an older 4-star hotel in Queenstown near the CBD. It’s a 15 minute walk to Fergburger. The views from this romantic hotel are simply stunning. Both from the restaurant and from the lakeview rooms. Stay here if you’re looking for a 5 star view on a 4 star budget.
The rooms are pretty huge for the price. A superior queen room is 36 sqm which is more than twice the size of some hotel rooms that are in the same price range. Combine that with the spectacular views and I’m willing to overlook the dated decor and bathrooms. The two bedroom apartments a split level and 86 sqm. So great for families, but not so much if you’ve got toddlers who aren’t used to stairs.
Restaurants
Hillary’s Restaurant is similar to the rest of the Hotel in that it offers 5 star views and pretty average food. Great for breakfast, Ok for dinner. But the view is to die for, I’d happily eat my shoe to sit and look out at that view for an hour.
Wellness
There’s a gym and a hot tub. You need to book the hot tub.
Negatives
There’s a lot to find fault with at Copthorne Hotel & Apartments Queenstown Lakeview, so if your fussy, try somewhere else. If however, you’re a typical middle-class New Zealander with reasonable expectations and you’re looking for a place to stay with your family, then I’d happily recommend this hotel. It’s spacious, reasonably close to the center of Queenstown, has free car parking (limited) for guests. And it’s well priced.
