DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Queenstown Overview
DoubleTree by Hilton is a 4 star hotel, perfect for couples. It’s got to be one of the nicest 4 star hotels in Queenstown. The rooms are beautiful, generously sized and really well furnished. Interconnecting rooms are available for families, and they all have a kitchenette. It’s incredibly well priced for what you get.
The rooms are 30 square metres and have a lounge and kitchenette. Some have lake views but this hotel has other buildings between it and the lake.
Restaurants
Next door at the 5 star Hilton Queenstown Resort and Spa you’ll be welcome to dine at Wakatipu Grill which is really really nice, but not cheap. The bar is also next door.
They do offer in room dining though if you don’t want to walk next door.
Negatives
There is so much that is good about DoubleTree by Hilton but…. Parking is not free, you have to pay to use the pool (technically it’s the Hilton resorts pool) but this seems to piss a lot of people off. Also the restaurant is actually at the Hilton next door not at DoubleTree – it’s not a big deal though it’s only a few metres walk. It’s also not that close to town, which is no big deal if you can afford a water taxi, but a bit of a hassle if your driving to and fro.
However the rooms are really nice. There big, and way nicer than most other 4 star hotels in town. And better than some 5 star hotels too. So if you want a nice big room and don’t care about pools, gyms, and hot tubs this is amazing value. If you think you’ll want to use all those facilities then you’d be better to stay next door at the Hilton Resort where that’s all included.
