The 4-star Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort is a large apartment style hotel on the lakeside. The location offers stunning views, of Lake Wakatipu and the mountains beyond. The hotel offers regular free shuttles into town, or it’s a 30 minute walk. It’s a slightly older 4 star so keep your expectations in check.
Oaks Queenstown Shores offer both Hotel rooms and apartments. The Hotel rooms are small but not tiny at 23 sqm. They also tend not to have views. the views in the photos are from the apartments, so if that’s what you like about this Hotel make sure you book an apartment with a lake view. The apartments are larger with 2 bedrooms 65 sqm and the 3 bedroom lake view 117 sqm.
Restaurants
Shores Restaurant serves up some stunning views to go with the food. It’s really a feature of dining here. Not the place for a foodie, but if you just want a regular dinner and a a great view then this is a good option. Open for breakfast and dinner.
Negatives
It’s a little older and that’s starting to show. The hotel rooms are small and lacking in the views that make many people choose this hotel. It’s really more of a serviced apartment complex than a true hotel, but it’s a great place for a family holiday. And if you book an apartment with lake views it will be a memorable highlight of your holiday. (the hotel room will not – it’s just a place to sleep).
